The Collaborative Chronicles - Intentional Space Design

Ashley Lewchuk, Owner of Intentional Space Design

Swedish Door’s “The Collaborative Chronicles” is a series that provides a comprehensive overview that showcases the history, skills, expertise, and creative capabilities of our trusted Design & Installation Partners.

Ashley Lewchuk came to Swedish Door with her first project only a few years ago and has since been a staple as one of our Design Partners in the Ottawa area.

Her journey into the world of design began with a simple passion for transforming her own living spaces. She discovered her flair for design while decorating her first major project, a complete basement renovation.

“I have always had a passion for decorating and designing in my own home but, only in the last 5-6 years did I realize that I could use my strengths and talents to help others in their homes as well,” Ashley revealed.

“The most rewarding part of what I do is getting to know my clients throughout the process. The best compliment is when you gain your client’s trust.”

Ashley’s design philosophy is deeply rooted in her love for nature and travel.

Her unique ability to draw inspiration from the natural world is evident in her creations, where elements of earth, cotton, and wood seamlessly blend to create harmonious and inviting spaces. Through her designs, she aims to bring the serenity of the outdoors into the heart of every home.

07Travel is another significant source of inspiration to her. Her adventures have exposed her to diverse cultures and design styles, enriching her creative palette. Each journey fuels her imagination, and she translates her experiences into design elements that tell stories and influences her work.

“I don't actively go searching for inspiration but I often find myself inspired by nature and the various places I travel to and will incorporate those into my designs using organic materials, plants, earthy colour tones etc. I have always loved the mix of old and new and how both paired together can complement one another and make a space more organic and inviting.”

Her spaces exude warmth and personality, ensuring to reflect the unique character of the individuals she works with. Her understanding of her clients' needs, combined with her innate ability to infuse charm into her designs, has garnered her a loyal clientele.

“I want to create spaces that evoke feelings of comfort and joy and ones that bring people together to create memories. I am a perfectionist by nature, so I like to be thorough and precise and make sure I have thought about all the little details of a design/project,” said Ashley.

One of the ways she achieves this is by using Swedish Door to maintain her client’s budgets and deliver a high-quality product to elevate her design.

“Often people want a custom look for their renovation (kitchen, mudroom, bathroom) but can't always afford custom millwork so Swedish Door is a go-to of mine because they offer many door front styles that will give clients the custom look they are after but still work within their budget,” Ashley explained.

As she continues to make waves in the world of design, she remains grounded in her initial passion for creating beautiful and meaningful spaces. Her journey from personal decorator to designer serves as an inspiration for those who dare to turn their passions into lifelong pursuits.
